On The Third Day

1115 - 1330 overcast, bright but darkening, cold NE f2-5

Sand Martin

The two Sand Martin are still present on the West Pit....the male Goldeneye has moved here again...

On Middle Pit there was a Common Gull in the usual Black-headed Gull pack...the two female Goldeneye had vacated temporarily to Island Pit but flew back quickly...many of the Shoveler have returned to Island Pit as well.  Todays total was 58.

2 Pochard, 2 Little Egret, several Teal, 24 Cormorants....Buzzards calling and a Skylark singing south of the pits.

In the far fields south of the pits a large flock, several hundred, of Fieldfares and Redwings were feeding.

Back in the quarry the Feral Pigeons seem to have returned...78 of them.  So not deserted the site just yet though work continues with the machinery.
