Med Gulls

1000 - 1200 bright but becoming overcast, cold W f1-3

Met MS-H today for the first time, hes been birding the pits for a good number of years, much longer than I have.  It was interesting to chat and hear about Whinchats and Shrikes on site....and the names of the pits when they were first christened.  Interestingly we both live in Pembury!  And not exactly very far from each other either.  Its a small world....!  I certainly hope to go out and do some birding at some point with him....im sure it would be worthwhile....

So after a long chat time was getting on.  So I decide to do a short circuit and see if I could still place some of the warblers in the same place as the other day.   Some were....and some, recently arrived such as Garden Warblers, had moved around a bit....

Warbler count:

Willow Warbler 8
Garden Warbler 3
Cettis Warbler 1
Nightingale 3

Of further interest there were several Mediterranean Gulls meandering up and down the pits....at least 4 and probably more....seems to have been a reasonable amount of Med Gull activity reported recently and indeed here at the pits....9 went over my house in Pembury the other day....

A swoop of House Martins...around 15 or so....were at west pit...
