The futures so bright....

0530 - 1110 Bright, sunny becoming overcast, light mist to start quickly clearing, cold becoming warmer

Rocked up a bit early today....though not terribly early..

...there had been a reasonable dew....

....to try to get a grip on some of the warblers whereabouts....and yes....some of them have gone and moved....so...all change....

I still didn't manage a complete circuit, initially trying to locate Nightingales intermittently singing which led to Lesser Whtiethroats and Garden Warblers...

Here....

....the mound...

.....was a grand place to stand around 0730.....Nightingale, Lesser Whitethroat, Willow Warbler, Garden Warbler, Chiffchaff....a soundscape to admire and great views of Garden Warbler too...

As planned t 0830 I met up with JK and DCG for a walk round the entire summer circuit....which we didn't actually complete due to time constraint and continually stopping to actually look for birds....had reasonable views of many though the Lesser Whitethroats were very skulky today as were Nightingales (though I did manage some superb views of the warbler corner one in the sunshine, it beautiful russety tail glowing).

Reed Bunting

A very enjoyable couple of hours or so in good company of two young and keen birders...the birding future....

Warbler count:.....not exact....

Lesser Whitethroat 5
Garden Warbler 7
Willow Warbler 9
Cettis Warbler 1
Nightingale 7
Whitethroat....at least 30....

Early in the day a couple of Med Gulls flew east calling.  Later a male Mandarin Duck flew from island pit.

Although there were a few Swallows around not much else was over the pits.

A Swift was reported to me by DH yesterday at the pits.  So I will use this as the arrival date.
