After yesterdays fabulous weather and rather grand total of Chiffchaffs this mornings weather was somewhat a let down....though probably more typical of this time of year....however...a quick visit to the pits was needed...
Sure enough I located couple of Chiffchaffs but not quite as vibrant as yesterday with sporadic singing.....
The Goldeneyes had gone today....though they have to go at some point.....however, these were replaced initially by 3 Redwing....I then located a flock of around 30 in the eastern field....
So...todays highlights really were...highlights...! A Redshank....only the second record for the site since I have been visiting.....though this isn't surprising as there aren't really too many areas for these to feed....this one was at the puddles....
Quality of the photos is a bit worse as had to use my phone through my binoculars.....
..squint...it is there....Redshank...
...then came the two new species for the site....first....a Barnacle Goose was on island pit with some Canada and Greylag Geese....
....then a Curlew turned up....flying along the pits and back a few times, calling continuously till it landed at the western end of the site....it was then seen again when I was at the eastern end....it flew off north east again calling....
Two nice wader species for the year list there Graham :-)
