Off we go...! They're here...!!

1100 - 1400 sunny, some cloud, warm, W f1-3

...and off we go with a warbler count....

Chiffchaff 6
Cettis Warbler 1

First warbler count of the year and its great to be able to include Cettis Warbler which has now been on site for a week or so....

The 2 overwintering Chiffchaff (still unsure about one of them?) have now been joined by some migrants.....a grand start to the Spring season....

So not only the first warbler count of the year....but also the first full walk round of the site this year as well.....and well worth it.....

...penny for the...scarecrow..hey....no Crows....

There was plenty of Buzzard action today.....4 in the sky at one time but before and after there was plenty of calling to be heard.

I found 5 singing Yellowhammers today around the site, most can be found along the southern border.

On the pools a Mandarin Duck was present along with 4 Wigeon, 2 Common Gull, 3 Herring Gull, 9 Pocard and the 3 Goldeneye (1f 2m).

I located another Coal Tit, this time at the western end of the site......so two breeding birds would be a great result.

Its also looking pretty good for Grey Herons at the moment....today was the largest count I have had....11.....9 in one tree on the northern bank behind island pit and two more flew in to trees further back in the woodland there.  If they all breed it could provide quite a sight.....

...behold.....Moschatel.....

At least half a dozen Brimstone butterflies and a few Tortoiseshell....
