In the cold

Visit to Sheppey...blimey it was cold.....

The winter visit to Sheppey on the north Kent coast with DH....the homeage to get Hen Harrier.....always hoping for a splendid male, but not complaining as we found 2 females....

Pintail was nice but the surprise of the day was a Spoonbill feeding by the gun club....

Other additions to the list included Corn Bunting, near the viewing point, always a good place to find them....

At the raptor viewing point a Kestrel was sitting on the wires....it was here that we came across our first Hen Harrier.....

At Mocketts the usual large finch flock....well....large for the current days...in previous years im sure it would have been thousands.....Linnets, Goldfinches....and ojne Siskin.....

The second Hen Harrier was along the poplars......

A stop on the return to find the Bewicks.....we had seen them initially but they were quite distant....on our return they were even more distant and it was now getting grey with light mist.....we could definitely decide they werent Mute, but other than that....they remained, for us, unidentified.....
