Afternoon

I wonder why Rod Stewert got a knighthood BEFORE Ray Davies...?

1430 - 1530 some cloud, partly bright but dimming, cool

An afternoon visit, more really getting my 8 year old son out of the house for a walk.....I was hoping to see Goldneye but was disappointed....although its been cold this last week I really don't think its ben a long enough spell to make more birds come South and so end up at a place like Whetsted....there is another cold spell forecast, so if it happens an it extends more than a few days it will be interesting to see the result....

So....all the usual suspects were around.....Teal, Pochard, Mallard, Gadwall, Wigeon, Shoveler, Tufted, Great Crested and Little Grebe, Cormorant, Mute Swan, Coot, Moorhen.....a few Black-headed Gull and one Common Gull...

The highlight therefore was the Barn Owl searching the western side of the western pit....

The birds are now dispersed along the usual pits...

On our return trip the other highlight was the amount of Fieldfare, at least 300, probably more, leaving the trees around the quarry area...there were plenty of Redwing with them...
