Now I'm livin out here on the beach....

...but those seagulls are still out of reach....
           On The Beach, N Young

No...I havent moved to the beach....though as I write this, on Wednesday 6 July, it looks like Summer is finally kicking in....a trip to the shingle ridges of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve was in order...something a little different....

5 July....a dry day forecast with possible sun later....it was cloudy mostly most of the day though admittedly the sun did poke through in the afternoon....

An uneventful trip south with DH.....a stop at the viewing point was in order...just in case....of what I dont know....but its worth a look and  its a nice view anyway....Marsh Harrier was the highlight there....plenty of Neil Youngs seagulls too....Lesser Black-backed, Herring, Black-headed....other than that the usual expected were there....Chiffchaff, Whitethroat and Linnet were all in song, Swift, House Martin and Sand Martin swooped...

Off to the beach....a figure of eight walk round....out along the 'environment' road to check out at Lime Kiln what we were likely to miss....I dont think we really missed that much...other than Wheatear.....Little Ringed Plover, Turnstone, Bar-tailed Godwit, Dunlin and some ducks, geese and Oystercatchers were all clocked....

Along the front the Terns were swooping in and out and calling 'eric'...whoever he is....Sandwich, Common and then a fly past of about 15 Little Terns, though frustratingly we couldnt re locate the Little Terns....never mind....

A visit to various hides enlightened us with Common Gull, Redshank and a single Med Gull.....across the great divide between the front road and back lane DH located a juvenile Stonechat....and adult male appeared as if on cue....Kestrel and Sparrowhawk made up the trio of raptors for the day...

We failed to get Robin....well..you cant have everything....!
