Wet play...almost

Well...this is June in the UK....writing this on Friday the 24th with heating up sun outside the door...out of Europe...the birds dont seem to mind, even the visitors....!

Visit was Wednesday though....and.....what a start...no rain forecast so it was raining...a miserable drizzle that seemed to neither want to become proper rain nor go away.....but a visit was in order anyway....so...off to the pits...

Mind you....I think I took just about every type of clothes for every occasion....though not snow shoes...I was confident it wouldnt snow...!

0915 - 1230 Warm, drizzly but clearing.....

All the usual culprits were around....Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler....but no Nightingale, they have clearly shut up shop for this year....

Highlights were the single Common Tern and 2 female Mandarin Duck.

Not a huge amount happening on the pits themselves really....a Shoveler was present though.  Lots of Swift swooping low over the pits reflecting the coolness of the morning.  2 House Martin joined them.

Hopefully the next visit will be in a somewhat warmer weather!  Maybe...even....eeeek....Summer...!!
