Back Home

Havent put anything about the garden for some time....mostly because...er...I havent...doh!

Anyway...heres a quick update on the spawn in the pond....

Quite a lot have survived.  We certainly had the most amount of spawn in this pond I have seen in the past three years.....hopefully a good number will survive the next few weeks and make it to froglets....cant see any legs yet though.

Put the moth trap out for the first time this year last night....only had 16 moths this morning, but its a start and as far as im concerned early in the season.  I know others doing the Garden Moth Scheme trap all year round and I take my hat off to them for spending quite a lot of time catching nothing during the winter months in the hope of something passing by.

Heres four.....

Spruce Carpet, Thera britannica

Early Grey, Xylocampa areola

Small Phoenix, Ecliptopera silaceata

Swallow Prominent, Pheosia tremula

Quiz...a reminder....whats the plant behind the Willow in the water.....

Horsetail sp.....

...and...whats in the water....not necessarily the 100% correct answer...but....probably...

Mayfly nymph

Also found today......by my son....a damselfly...which can be todays quiz as I looked in the book and cant seem to match it with anything.....answers on a postcard etc.....
