Back to Whetsted today for a Warbler count before work kicks in tomorrow and then I wont be there for a week (im considering some evening visits though...)...
Another great day for Warblers.....Chiffchaff up again....an amazing 48 on site, should blow the fifty next week hopefully...!!....Blackcaps were 5, so one down, though one of the birds I saw was feeding quietly and not singing or calling, so im guessing I missed the other one and who knows, maybe some others, but hey, within the next week they will all be full on along with so many others....including...Willow Warbler.... 1 arrived over night, I would guess, and was quite mobile, singing very quietly heading to the Eastern end of the site which is the area that usually holds the 2 pairs that have been on site for the last two seasons.....we will see...
So...just days away from all sorts of goodies, including....shhhhhhhhhhhhh.....Nightingale....cant wait....its so exciting....!!
Oddity of the day...possibly...was the 29 Fieldfare I came across at the Western end of the site...possible migrants from Southern Europe heading North?....perhaps....which would show migration in full swing....
