A quickie

1420 - 1530 overcast, occasional light rain, SW f2-5

A quick visit as I had a little time to spare.....and a good result...

Loads of Chiffchaff continue to sing, no doubt defending both territory and their lady friend....although I only had a short walk round I must have come across about 20 or so...I also heard 3 Blackcap singing....

I found a Buzzard sitting on a footpath along the Eastern edge of the site but it soon flew off.

2 Mandarin Duck were flying about in their usual noisy way.

I was just considering heading back to the car when 3 specks over one of the pits soon became 3 House Martins...!  Excellent!!  I walked back along the pits for a bit to see if I could pick them up again as the gusty conditions pushed them on quite quickly.  I couldnt re-locate them so headed back.

The distinctive call of a Swallow overhead made me look up....4.....4 Swallow do make a Summer....and what joy!

I watched them sweep and swoop around one of the pits for a few minutes before they too disappeared....

An hour well spent!  You bet...!!!
