Spring is here

...and wow!...its early....!!

Seems the weather is just all over the place....I love all the seasons, especially winter....but this is getting silly....still in shorts....no shivers from Northerlies or Easterlies.....one frost so far where I had to scrape the windscreen....what the hell is going on.....

Still....when it does bite its sure going to be a right bugger!!!  Maybe January will turn up some cold weather....

......and the other thing....December is being a complete wind-out for ringing....first it was Hurricane Desmond tail end of...now its just ordinary windy....December is one of the best months for ringing Redwing....so im reduced to hoping for a very cold, dry, still January....

So...I went to the pits instead today....

0900 - 1030 Overcast, clearing to sun, SW f1-2 gusting 5-6....WARM....WARM....!

So I didnt count all the waterfowl....just some of them....so heres a list of what I saw....best thing was 18 Lapwing....nice....

Robin, Song Thrush (singing), Blackbird, Crow, Black Headed Gull, Starling, Grey Heron, Chiffchaff (singing!!), Green Woodpecker, Woodpigeon, Pied Wagtail, Magpie, Skylark, Feral Pigeon, Blue Tit, Coot, 3 Little Grebe, Tufted Duck, 16 Shoveler, 25 Gadwall, Chaffinch, Jackdaw, 15 Teal, 14 Pochard, Great Crested Grebe, 33 Stock Dove, Cormorant, Wren, Mute Swan, Long Tail Tit, Goldfinch, Yellowhammer, Bullfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Fieldfare, Redwing.
