Sometimes you dont realise how anxious you are getting. When Spring is on the horizon it becomes a need, a want...the March of the Chiffchaff...then knowing and hearing that first Nightingale (Where are those starry woods, O might I wander there...Robert Bridges). And the waiting goes on...
Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Great Tit in the village. Across the great divide, Skylark and Wren. Blackcap greeting at the pits with Mute Swan, Mallard, Whitethroat, Coot
predated egg of Coot, Fulica atra
Magpie, Chiffchaff, Grey Heron, Crow, Woodpigeon, Garden Warbler, Buzzard, Herring Gull, Chaffinch, Jackdaw....and now for some good news....Nightingale....initially my count this morning was up to 7, this afternoon I went back to look at a fresh part of the site I havent visited previously. Now I have registered the site for WeBS counts I need to include another pit further East...during this afternoon visit I found 2 more Nightingales, now making the total 9. However, they may have been there last year anyway of course which would have increased last years total further. Im not complaining though as these two 'new' birds were singing rather well.
Todays interest increased...im pretty sure on the identity of the first, but if you know different, drop me a line...
female Azure Damselfly, Coenagrion puella
Banded Demoiselle, Calopteryx splendana
Linnet, Bullfinch, Long Tail Tit, Kestrel, Mandarin Duck (one male), Tufted Duck, Dunnock, Greylag Goose (lots of juveniles present), Green Woodpecker, Canada Goose, Reed Warbler, 1 Swallow.....
They've made it again
Which means the globes still working, the Creations
Still waking refreshed; our summer's
Still all to come................
