A quick visit was in order as some White Fronted Geese had been reported not too far away....so...with a bit of luck some may have dropped in to the pits area....
White Fronted Goose
Just south of middle pit...easily viewed from the pit track.....2....nice find....
The Greylag Geese that have been mostly on Island Pit now number around 120 or so.....with the 13 feral Barnacle Geese with them, eventually they flew out to the field to join the White Fronts....
A Kestrel was doing its best to hunt despite the blustery wind.....a few Bullfinches were around, almost guaranteed at Whetsted….though very few passerines around in the conditions....a few Long Tail Tits with some Blue Tits....Redwings and Fieldfares.....
Island Pit and Middle Pit are still linked as the water level is high enough to cover the bund between them....thought the water level is gradually going down, the footpaths and tracks are becoming passable.....
Plenty of Black-headed Gulls...one with a completely black head already....a Common Gull and a immature Herring Gull....
I couldn't find any of the Teal , probably hiding away somewhere....though plenty of Tufted Ducks, the usual Pochard numbers, a few Gadwall and Shovelers….2 female Goldeneye persist on West Pit.....
First Little Grebe of the year for me....in the run up to the end of the year they seemed so prevalent....
