More One Ton Boots

0930 - 1220 cool to warm, slightest breeze, overcast clearing to sun then back to overcast

We definitely need some cold weather....the walk out to the pits is still quite good till that last bit across the ploughed field where anyone will acquire one ton boots.....

Hmmm....doesnt look too far across to that bridge...!!

...and it certainly wont be drying out any time soon though the water has receeded a little on the footpaths...

Though dont get too carried away....its still wet out there....

The Grey Wagtail was again in the ditch and a few Skylarks were calling as they made themselves obvious springing up from the field with the occasional Meadow Pipit....

In the field just south of the pits was the reported Great White Egret....

Though this is a Little Egret

Great White Egret

Great White Egret

It remained at distance so I decided to work my way round the other side....however...

It meant I was facing the sun though quite a bit closer....in the top picture here it can be seen to have a bill issue, a third of the top madible is missing.

West Pit contaned the three female Goldeneye....Middle Pit had a few Gulls on including a Common Gull....

...its the one in the middle looking grey....

The water is still covering the track and today some of the Greylag Geese were enjoying and 'out of pond' experience...

The Barnacles and Canadas of a few days ago had disappeared to be replaced by two Egyptian Geese....

The usual Bullfinch group were about as well as Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Jay.....the one raptor was Kestrel.....

On the way back the Meadow Pipit flock was by the Oak Tree at the beginning of the ploughed field....

Meadow Pipit

The flock is now an impressive 40 or so birds.....

The Redwings are outnumbering the Fieldfares along the treeline at the orchard, though there certainly isn't the number of winter thrushes as there has been in the past....

Fieldfare

The Chaffinches accompanying them turned out to be not Brambling....again....always worth a look though....!
