Five

1030 - 1230 overcast, dull, cool to warm, hazy

A quick trip out to the pits to fill in a couple of hours......

An excellent 5 female Goldeneye now on West Pit....this is the mot Goldeneye at the pits that I can recall, and definitely the most females!  Where are the boys?!

….3....

....4.....all five would not co operate in one picture...

Out in the field no Great White Egret....but a Little Egret was up in one of the Oak Trees...though it was some distance....

A Grey Heron was also in the field and several others feeding around the pits....

Pochard still number just over 20....Shovelers remain at low numbers for the winter period....4 Teal remain on Island Pit, their usual haunt.....the Greylag Geese, numbering around 60, were now the only Goose species present....but a lone Wigeon had joined them...

Wigeon visit the pits on occasion over the winter months but rarely stay for any extended period of time and usually only in small numbers.....

The Grey Wagtail was in the ditch as usual near the orchard....
