Oare visit

0620 - 1100 overcast, grey, eventually rain...yes....rain!....but warm...

With the beginnings of migration....waders first....it as time to head to Oare on the North Kent coast and see what was there....

Picked up AL on the way and arrived on site where it was indeed dull and grey, though trying to brighten but failed....never mind...

First up was a quick search for the Teminks Stint which had been reported....we found it on the East Flood toward the southern edge on some drier mud....heres a really poor pic...trying to take a photo when its dull, and reasonably dull coloured bird on dull mud....

Temminks Stint...blending in well...

Okay, having said it was a dull bird....it was quite smartly marked and really crisp...very nice...

Also on the flood were plenty of Black Tailed Godwits, Avocet, Dunlin, Moorhen, Coot, many multi moulted Ruff, Pied Wagtail, Little Ringed Plover, Black-headed Gull, Greenshank, Grey Heron a Whimbrel and a Water Rail eventually....I also counted 28 Little Egrets.….

On the eastern side of the flood we found....

Bonapartes Gull left....Black-headed Gull right....

We meandered to the sea hide....on the way we found Sedge Warbler, Great Black-backed Gull....Cormorants were out on the sand as were some Little Egrets and one as fishing near the hide....Curlews and Redshanks were along the inlet....

Godwits....

...general wader scene....

Along the bank of the flood we found  family of Bearded Tit that posed nicely atop the reeds...

Bearded Tit juvenile

The Little Owl was sitting in the Elder tree near the hide on the south side....

And from the road we found Turtle Doves purring and occasionally  sitting up on the telegraph poles...

Starling left....Turtle Doves right...

Other birds around included Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Starlings, Marsh Harrier, Herring Gull, Med Gulls and a fly past by a juvenile Cuckoo....last bird found was a fabulously Summer plumaged Curlew Sandpiper.....
