Old Lodge

0940 - 1200 sunny, warming, bright, cool in the shade though!

A visit across the border in Sussex.....a lovely site on the Ashdown Forest east of Crowborough....and right good for birds too...

Heres a couple of fine views from the site....

So...the journey is all for one species really....depending on what I have found at Broadwater Warren on my visits...and here THEY are....

Common Redstarts....male and female....

Another one of the boy....good looking!

Its always a joy to see Common Redstarts as they are smart birds and a grand colour....especially that tail...even the female has a fabulously colourful tail if somewhat duller otherwise...but the male is stand out stonking....no doubt....

So....if I haven't had Tree Pipit by now at Broadwater this is the place....and it didn't fail....a fine singing bird.....another good one for this site is Stonechat....

Best views of Woodlark I have had for many years near the gate was a real bonus as it sat up on a tree near by and sang continually....wonderful stuff...

Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap, Whitethroat, Blackbird, Crow, Buzzard and more..
