0700 - 0900 chilly, overcast, chilly....chillier than that....W-NW f1-3.....and chilly
Did a short walk....it was supposed to be the whole walk....but it was chilly.....and I had left one of my jumpers in the car....which I was sure I wouldn't need...
By the time I got to the West Pit the clouds were beginning to head south...but it was still chilly...
West Pit
Eventually it left a nice blue sky....but it was still chilly....
Its funny how decisions can make for the good....having decided to return home to do a few jobs and then come back later I headed back along the south side of the pits....and I don't think I would have seen it if I hadn't....a Swallow heading west over Island Pit....first of the year for me...
The Willow Warbler now had company....2 Willow Warblers.....
10 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, 1 Cettis Warbler, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 18 Shoveler....
Take 2....
1130 - 1345 sunny, little cloud, slight chill but getting....warm!, W f1-2
....the return....
The whole circuit this time. The Willow Warbler was now on its own again. Being a nice day the other one must be pushing on.
I was expecting a few more warblers around actually, yesterday was quite nice and last night reasonably clear early on....maybe they went straight over or dropped on to the coast....still...the next ew days should be good for migration so hopefully lots happening this week coming....
Warbler count:
Willow Warbler 1
Chiffchaff 25
Blackcap 8
Cettis Warbler 1
2 Little Egrets, 68 Tufted Ducks and I found the Nuthatch again at the western end of the site.
Another nice find was this Comma Butterfly....though by the time I left the site I had found 4 more and a Brimstone too...but nice to see and really looking fresh...
