It may be winter outside...

....but in my heart its Spring....
It May Be Winter Outside, B White, P Politi

0900 - 1045 snow, cold NE f2-4

In todays Arrivals hall.....Sand Martins.....

Yes, it was snowing again....I'm sure you've all seen it...and possibly the dash for the supermarket just in case the world is about to end...though its not...so don't worry...it, and nature, are carrying on. I sometimes wonder, if nature had thought, what it would think about modern human behaviour...

Enough of that...now....for this...

....snow....

....and snow....

Willow not giving a monkeys....

....still snowing....

Enough of that too....but the Willow was a cracking yellow....plenty of bees been around, even through December....so plenty of little insects making the most of the early Spring flush....

...and so are some of the birds.....I located a couple of Skylark in North Field....neither singing...though there was one singing over the south side of the site....Buzzards were calling, Jays seemingly going mad with their raucous calls.  Blue Tits, Great Tits, Dunnocks and Wrens all singing too.

On the pools a Little Egret, several Grey Herons, 38 Shoveler and 3 Goldeneye, now with the male and a female together and one female distant.

Highlight was 2 Sand Martin on West Pit....clearly catching midge/gnat things over the water though they did have to fly very low!

Are they early....no...probably around the right time....but I didn't see them on site till about a month later last year...however...I think other had sightings of them before I did so it was just me missing them for  while...
