Swan Attack

1100 - 1300 Bright, some cloud, cold SW f1-3

Mute Swans have re-appeared in numbers at last....all 9 of them.  This, of course, has meant that one or two of the slightly more aggressive ones have started strutting their stuff....one pair in particular.  At one point the head honcho was standing on top of another bird whilst his other half admired from close proximity.....exciting action indeed.

The other noticeable action on site are several Great Spotted Woodpeckers that have commenced knocking out territory and chasing each other around.

This.....

....is what I used to refer to as the puddles.  Indeed there are, as you can see, still puddles.  But there has been a change.  Once the contractors moved in a few weeks ago they started to move out the material that had been stored in this area and, as the photo shows, made a good mess doing so.  Since they have made this landscaping change no Wagtails have been seen here....

Goldeneye females....

The two Goldeneye females remain on middle pit....12 Pochard, 55 Shoveler, 40+ Teal were aso around the pits.

The first singing Skylark was heard today and a Little Egret whizzed over in the gusty wind.
