Met up with DH for a few hours birding oooop north where the wind blows....well, at least as far as Conyer and Oare Marshes anyway...
Having never been to Conyer....
...a few, mostly, Black-tailed Godwits...
...I managed to get hold of some helpful directions from a couple of people on Kent Birds Facebook page...and thanks to these we eventually caught up with 2 Snow Bunting....
Snow Bunting
....what a delight....with only two on offer, as opposed to some other places that seemed to offer more, it was going to be a bit of a risk searching for them....though they were reliable in the place 'as advertised'. Fabulous result and really nice to catch up with some Snow Buntings having missed out for a while.
There was plenty of other birds on offer such as Bar-tailed Godwit, Redshanks, Grey Plover, Black-tailed Godwit, Dunlin, Teal and much more....it was pretty windy, especially on the way back walking in to the sometimes hefty wind...but well worth it....
With the Buntings in the bag we went off to Oare Marshes not too far away....and as usual with this place the birds were pretty close to the road....
Teal
A windy, again, walk round with some relief in the hides, though not a huge amount more on offer really....but distant views of Marsh Harriers over on Sheppey was a nice touch as usual....
Common Gull coming in to land....
We did catch up with Rock Pipit eventually near the hide on the front....but this Meadow Pipit posed quite happily and at that moment the sky brightened a little....

The Avocet were happy to slowly move ever closer to the hide which allowed me to get a half decent shot....

There were also plenty of Pintails on show on the pool which was a nice addition to the list....
Over the hundred for January is always nice to get.....
