C is for....
Greylag Geese.....Christmas...
0915 - 1115 overcast, gloomy, dull, brightening SW f1-3
Possibly the last visit of the year....total species down from last year on site....however....I'm happy to say this is more than made up for by the increase of warblers such as Willow Warbler breeding on site. Also, the arrival of Cettis Warbler. It remained on the north side of the site for some time, I don't think it hung around to breed though as all was quiet after the initial weeks of singing. Maybe next year....!
....a fox this way comes.....
So...today was a quick meander to see if anything had popped along....
Plenty of Bullfinches around and a group of 12 Goldfinch held one Lesser Redpoll. A Grey Wagtail was around and amongst the ever up and down flocks of Woodpigeons 30 or so Stock Doves could be found in the field south.
On the pools....
4 Mallard, 42 Tufted Duck, 18 Pochard, 58 Shoveler, 34 Gadwall, 4 Wigeon, 4 Little Grebe, 5 Mute Swan, 79 Greylag Geese, 3 Teal, 2 Common Gull, 1 Goldeneye, female.....
...and here she is....pretty poor pics...
...Tufteds pass by...
...I want to be.....alone....
