Mega!......megarhynchos

0415 - 0700 crepuscular!....brightening (couldn't do anything else)....cool, E f1-2

An early start in a bid to get a total for Nightingale....having briefly visited the site last night to do the same and how disappointing was that....2...but this morning at 0415 they were all at it.......

Now all I had to do was get round the site as much as possible before too many other birds joined in or it got light and they took a break!!...I managed most of the task which was rather pleasing, noting a new one at the east of the site and a new one in the middle area too....

....and a new bird for the site....!

So the new total is....13.......

I also tried to note down other birds as they joined the morning....Nightingale was the first bird I heard....closely followed by Crow....there was then a lull in new birds....but after a little while with the dawn dawning...

Robin, Reed Warbler, Great Crested Grebe, Song Thrush, Blackbird, Wren, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Woodpigeon, Canada Goose, Goldcrest, Jackdaw, Whitethroat, Garden Warbler, Willow Warbler, Rd Bunting, Lesser Whitethroat, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Cettis Warbler, Barn Owl, Grey Heron, Med Gull, Cuckoo, Long Tail Tit, Yellowhammer, Kestrel, Shelduck, Skylark, Linnet, Mandarin Duck, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Magpie, Green Woodpecker, Mistle Thrush, Collared Dove, Starling

6 Mediterranean Gulls flying W...there were more but I couldn't find them as I was on a footpath with no real view across the sky...

....new bird for the site....4 Shelduck....

I was surprised the Skylark took so long to get as I have heard them singing in the dark before.

  1. 13 nightingales - that's fantastic! I'll have to get down there early doors soon! Have only discovered 6 of them so far during the day. Last year I managed 11. A map of locations would be usefu!
