Heres a Common Spotted Orchid, Dactylorhiz fuchsii....not a strange site...however, this one is in my garden.....!
Its in my garden because I rescued it from the thick morons at Tunbridge Wells Council...though I am sure they are no longer Council workers but privatised employees.....
I suppose this is probably an example of employing monkeys...cheap....you pay peanuts you get monkeys....they clearly know nothing and have no intention of ever learning...or being taught anything by their employers....why should they....'go and mow the grass here, here and here' I feel sure their boss tells them without further thought. Funny how I thought everyone knew what an orchid looked like and appreciated it....!?
And its annoying. But maybe this is the price of privatisation.
This fellow had some friends when I first came across it two years ago on a verge...there were about ten of them....then the mower turned up...not only the mower but as some of them were under a tree a strimmer was also used to savage the remainder.
I vowed to rescue them the next year. But alas, I was too late again. I saw them and a couple of days later they had been chopped. Well, there were less of them....so the few that remained had been chopped.
I parked my car and solemnly wandered the verge and found this one...de flowered...so I dug it up and planted it in the garden in hope....and now, a year down the line...its flowered.
Full circle will be attained when I find a new, more protected, colony of these orchids....and this will be returned to the wild..........
