This September coming will be the third anniversary of being here and the garden is looking its best....most of the hard work being done by my wife....
I cant claim any credit really other than mowing the lawn regularly and looking after the pond...
Below is the insect house....looking a bit different....the plant to the right is Green Alkanet, usually known to gardeners, including my wife, as a weed....but I have persuaded her to keep it as long as possible, mostly because the bees etc like it....though this and the plant to the left....
...which is Borage (another great insect plant) will soon be replaced when some Veg needs to be planted. Both will return next year though as they are self seeding.
The pond is now looking its best, above. I have allowed the grass around the edges to grow rather than keep it trimmed. Ive added Phragmites Reeds in a bucket to assist with water quality (although to be honest this has never been an issue). Yellow Flag Iris, Sedge and Water Mint have also been added along with Gypsy Wort.
Not pictured here yet....maybe next year...is my small wild flower spot in one corner....its got some interesting grasses present this year though few 'flowers' to speak of so I am hoping this will gradually develop over the next few years. I cant seem to find any sign of Toadflax appearing though I took some seeds from the plants over at Whetsted.
