Success....!!

Hobby.....
............lovely...any birder visiting the site in the past three months will have heard these birds sounding out in one little corner....I havent mentioned them at all till now....they are just about always difficult to find despite the loud, raucous ranting and this morning I finally spied 3 flying together.  I didnt see if the other two were both adult but this one is obviously a juvenile.  Its not a great picture, sorry, but it posed for a few seconds before it was off again....with the number of Swift around the area seemingly quite low I guess they will have mostly been eating the local dragonfly population....

0615 - 0915 cool start warming later though becoming hazy, light breeze

More additions....I finally found 4 juvenile with 2 adults Great Crested Grebe.  A reasonable size though one was still taking it easy on its parents back.  There was also a Mandarin Duck, female, standing on one of the posts in the main pit but it soon took off and headed East from where I had just come.  Im sure it will have hidden itself on one of the other pits....

Probably one of the other highlights was the geese all flying in together at 0800.....always a great spectacle however many times you see it and although I have seen many more arrive on lakes in the past it is nice to witness....

  1. Excellent news on the Hobbies Graham.

I have to agree with you about the Geese, every morning and evening at this time of year they go over, always on time, great to see and hear.
