Mucho Excitement!!

Last night I planned a trip to Whetsted this morning....early....to see if any Nightingales were singing.....then the forecast changed to....rain.....meh!!

So....laying in bed I get a text from MSH.....hes out in the rain with a few others on a pre planned walk and they have found a....Hoopoe....!

Right....out of bed it is then....rain or no rain....

0815 - 1125 overcast, rain on and of, N f1-3

Having slogged along the track....more rain on top of the rain that seems the constant with the weather at the moment.....I found MSH et al at West Pit....but no Hoopoe....we meandered east to try to find it....then west....to try to find it.....

After about 30 minutes it re appeared near West Pit....fabulous....what a relief....this is why im not a twitcher, I would hate to travel miles to not see a bird....but thats probably also why I dont achieve more than 200 species in a year....

I had informed DH who turned up in time to view the bird sitting up in a tree....

We watched the bird for about half n hour before it was disturbed by a dog walker.......

It had simply moved a few yards to feed in a quiet area.....after another ten minutes it was disturbed by another dog walker and flew east.

DH and I meandered around West Pit to see if we could find any Willow Warblers there....we didnt, but this is what we found on site....

3 Nightingales

3 Whitethroat

2 Reed Warbler

7 Blackcap

30+ Chiffchaff

2 Med Gulls

2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls

2 Goldeneye

1 Cuckoo

1 Willow Warbler....eastern end of site

2 Mistle Thrush

3 Lapwing

5 Swallow

2 House Martin

2 Egyptian Geese
