The End of March

0645 - 0845 cool, cloudy, southerly light

we are on the verge of the big influx of summer warblers over the next 4 weeks or so.....my last visit before i head off to sunnier places....report to follow and hopefully some super special birds........hopefully!!...

The workmen have been in nd cut a swathe along the southern channel and also the channel from the middle metal bridge.  from the bridge its now possible to access a lot more of the site again which is good and potntilly opened up a better bit of habitat.  there were some deer ther today, two impressive males with large antlers.....nice to see.....

so....what did i see and count....

38 chiffchaff

2 blackcap

1 willow warbler......sang very briefly and must have arrived over night or very early this morning

1 cettis warbler

2 goldeneye....1m 1f

green sandpiper

yellowhammers were singing

2 common snipe

2 mandarin ducks

3 little egret

and always nice to hear stock doves....
