Buzzing in Warbler Corner

 0540 - 0850 frosty start, cold, slight ENE f1....warming in the sunshine....eventually...

Three Mandarin Ducks were up and about early on.....a Buzzard sat in a tree and eventually lumbered off south....

Plenty of Goldfinches were around the Paddocks....Bullfinches were to be found along the southern bounday, usuallya pretty reliable area to locate them....

A hope that the number of Nightingales has improved from 6 I found a few days ago....and indeed todays count was 7....

Warbler corner was buzzing and giving plenty of treats.....a showy Nightingale...

Nightingale

...was happy to sit in the sunshine occasionally singing and preening....meantime another sang just north...

A Blackcap was remaining hidden but continually singing....2 Chiffchaff sang....

A Whitethroat appeared and sat above the Nightingale happily posing....

Then there was the fly-bys and also present but not showing so well....a Kingfisher flew by at lightning speed....a Barn Owl wandered by....a Cettis Warbler was singing and briefly showing in the scrub....

There are 2 Cettis on site for sure....

I found the Barn Owl a few minutes later at the west end of Middle Pit....

Over at West Pit the Willow Warbler was singing on the western side...and a new one has taken up residence in the Hidden Pit area to the east of West Pit.....

Plenty of Linnets were around...a few Meadow Pipits too...a number of Skylark singing....a Herring Gull was on West Pit, not the most frequent of visitors, and a solitary Black-headed Gull was out in the field south of the pit....accompanying the gull were 4 Song Thrushes.....

Several Yellowhammers were singing...this one was looking very yellow in the early morning sunshine...

A Cuckoo was calling occasionally but not visible....probably over toward the Medway river....

At the eastern end a single Swallow flew by....
