1000 - 1300 bright, becoming dull, cold, S f2-5
The wind was rather cold....and made the short visit a bit shorter....!
It was high tide when I got to site...so any birds would be roosting across Flat Beach and at Ternery Pool....a stop at both and a quick seawatch produced Turnstone, Sanderling and Lesser Black-backed Gull....all new ticks for the year...
Ringed Plover
Next up is Shelduck...this according to my mother in law who is a photographer, is the bird that is always used in a photo competition...probably because they are relatively tame, tend not to escape as soon as anyone comes near and are, relatively, colourful with striking markings....
Shelduck...the photographers bird....
There were several Dunlin feeding in front of the hide....busy, busy, busy....wouldn't keep its head still....
Dunlin
Having done a brief seawatch at the harbour entrance time had pressed on somewhat. I had been hoping to complete at least the short circuit but this wasn't going to happen...so time to press on...
I headed for Pett Level where I found the White-fronted Geese...but no sign of the Snow Bunting....another seawatch produced nothing new...Gannet, Red-throaed Diver...Great Crested Grebe...Scoter...
At the cliffs at the east end of the levels was the best seabird flyer on our coats...I my opinion....Fulmar....fabulous birds....
A quick seawatch produced a Razorbill which was a great find....
