What a difference a day made...

....24 little hours....
..brought the sun and the flowers where there used to be rain....
           Maria Grever

Well....ok....two days....last time out was coat and woolly hat....today....t-shirt (eventually)....!!

0500 - 0730 Clear, bright, sunny, warm SW f1-2 increasing

WeBS day again....and after the other day, with so little around, I was hoping for some improvment....and wasnt disappointed....

8 Great Crested Grebe, 20 Coot, 24 Mallard, 3 Mute Swan, 1 Grey Heron, 8 Canada Geese, 9 Tufted Duck, 1 Moorhen, 2 Black-headed Gull, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 7 Mandarin Duck (4m 3f)

Not bad at all seeing I was really struggling to find anything in the cold a couple of days ago...a bit of sun and warmth...and hey bananas....birds!!

Talking of which.....Nightingales (at least 4) continue to sing occasionally...though 2 were quite prominent....the first has been in the same place and always seems to sing, the other is in a new place!  Im wondering if perhaps there have been a few failures due to the cold, even for May, weather.  A Garden Warbler was singing...or trundling perhaps...by the 'new' Nightingale.

There have been successes though...huzzah....a single juvenile Pied Wagtail was on the island with the Mandarins.....a Chiffchaff was seen carrying food....and a family of Whitethroat were newly out the nest (obviously this guy and gal didnt hang around when they got here!!)

Not success but hopefully to come...a Linnet was seen carrying nesting material.
