Back on track with the real world for a while hopefully....
...and the sunny weather means...heres the beach....
Middle Beach re-appears out of the flood....and....if you look carefully....
you can see the island appearing out of the water just beyond the beach...
The high water levels have meant that mostly any 'beach' for waders has been somewhat flooded out. This is middle beach...not much...but if theres a Sandpiper around this is one of the places to look...in the meantime east beach is flooded again...it is located on the edge of a stream and im guessing somewhere someone has closed a floodgate, which is a bit of a shame as this beach has mostly been flooded for long periods over the last year.
What was once Skylark was ploughed...and is now tilled....and quiet.
WeBS on Sunday....and as usual at this time of year, with everything gone off to do the business of making little bits of carbon in their own shape....im guessing it wont take long...however...im in hope that the 2 Common Tern that were there today will still be around to make it look at least a bit interesting....heres a fairly rubbish pic taken through my binoculars with my phone...just dont comment...I know...anyway...as they say...its a record pic....! This species terns (ouch!) up every year and saves me running off to Rye Harbour...now if only I could persuade Sandwich and Little Tern to pop in...!!...along with Roseate, Arctic etc etc.....
Common Tern, Sterna hirundo
So this is what the WeBS count will probably look like....
Canada Goose, Mallard, Grey Heron, Cormorant, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Coot, Moorhen, Great Crested Grebe, Little Grebe.
.....and a warbler count....though not a full walk round...
Whitethroat 14
Blackcap 10
Lesser Whitethroat 3
Willow Warbler 1
Nightingale 10
Garden Warbler 6
A few Swallow where around and 3 Swift...and all the other expected bunch...which leaves...the quiz...
Whats this....? Its growing in a puddle as are several others...so im guessing they like waterlogged ground....
