Big Vern

...no....not a homage to Big Vern the Viz character....more the Vernal Equinox that has just passed...and hey presto....a sunny, bright day....Spring....

With Chiffchaff numbers increasing on site, 9 today, I thought I would take the time out to count other birds too....whilst waiting for a new warbler...!

Blue Tit, Robin, Chaffinch, Magpie, Blackbird, Woodpigeon, Green Woodpecker, Crow, Goldfinch, Great Tit, Bullfinch, Wren, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Greenfinch, Treecreeper, Song Thrush, Jay, Skylark, Redwing 3, Grey Wagtail 2, Buzzard 5, Stock Dove 2, Fieldfare 2, Jackdaw, Reed Bunting, Long Tail Tit, Yellowhammer, Feral Pigeon, Meadow Pipit.

101 Tufted Duck, 37 Coot, 15 Shoveler, 7 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Little Grebe, 8 Mute Swan, 6 Cormorant, 6 Mallard, 8 Pochard, 1 Teal, 4 Moorhen, 4 Grey Heron, 1 Water Rail, 1 Kingfisher, 6 Canada Geese, 147 Black Headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 8 Greylag Geese, 1 Little Egret, 2 Goldeneye (1m 1f)

A sunny, warm day brought out 3 fabulously, lemony coloured Brimstone butterflies.  A real hgihlight today.....
