Nightjar

A visit out of county....all the way to East Sussex.....Broadwater Warren......

I didnt get to site until 2130hrs....I entered at Gate 1....by the time I had wandered down to where the dirt track appears as a crossroads there was already one Nightjar 'singing'....

It flew around a few times, wing clapping, and I eventually located it sitting out on a rotten branch where it sat for several minutes before taking off and continuing its wing clapping and calling display.

Several Woodcock went by including one doing the 'roding' thing....another landed no more than 10 metres away...but it was rather gloomy and I couldnt locate it.....but very nice!

Eventually I heard four or five Nightjars in total and im sure there must be more around the site as the management at the site has been rather incredible over the past few years.

If you havent got Nightjar on your list yet....go now....its well worth it....

....and to top the evening off I spotted a Glow-worm....
