Now is the solstice of the year
winter is the glad song that you hear.....
Ring Out, Solstice Bells - Jethro Tull
,,,,let it be! Off to Summer we go...............
Cold, W F1-2 gust 3-4, overcast.
Winter hasnt bitten hard yet....that is to come me thinks....5 frosts I have counted so far.
So, my son was out of bed at 0630 saying he couldnt get back to sleep.....it was a long wait till I could leave the house to go and look at some birds. It seemed like it would never get light this morning. I checked sunrise times for the day...0804 with sunset at 1553. Fortunately at least it was light a little earlier so off I went.
I realised that by the time I got to site I would have missed the outpouring of birds from their roosts. Never mind.
And so it was and so it shall be...Crow was the first bird of the morning followed by Woodpigeon and Jackdaw.
What was around the pits today:
Blackbird, Blue Tit, Feral Pigeon, Long Tail Tit, Grey Wagtail, 2 Chiffchaff, Magpie, Fieldfare, Great Tit, Wren, Chaffinch, Jay, Bullfinch, Goldfinch, Kestrel, 2 Raven, Song Thrush, 9 Stock Dove, Redwing.
And...on the pits:
2 Mute Swan, 60 Coot, 4 Mallard, 50 Tufted Duck, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Little Grebe, 2 Grey Heron, 14 Cormorant, 1 Little Egret, 13 Teal, 26 Pochard, 2 Greylag Goose, 60 Gadwall, 20 Black Headed Gull, 2 Moorhen, 1 Goldeneye (m), 2 Shoveler, 2 Water Rail.
This is looking like the last post prior to Christmas...so..if it is...Happy Christmas to you all.
Enjoy your Xmas mate, hopefully there will be a birdy present for me here on Xmas day!
