Its....

...WeBS day....you could tell it was WeBS day cos there was so much Fik fog...even Fiker than you are imagining....looking across one gravel pit...well....when i say across it was hard to tell how far I was looking as it was no more than a white blank....anyway, it was so thick it wanted to be spelled incorrectly...to make a point on how Fik it was....

So, it was a case of, mostly, what I heard rather than what I saw....

Robin, Wren, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Crow, Dunnock, Jackdaw, Magpie, Chiffchaff singing, Gren Woodpecker, Feral Pigeon, Woodpigeon, Blue Tit, Jay, Bullfinch.  I did see around 15 or so Mallard.

So WeBS will have to wait for another day for any realistic count...

I suppose I could rattle on for a bit about what the farmer said about the wild flower meadow reported on Radio 4 earlier this week, maybe you heard it....just before he ploughed it up...but is there any point...it would seem not as even Natural England are now reckoned to be so under-funded that they cant do the job they were designed to do...though I have always believed amalgamating several bodies in to one to 'save money' was always going to end up as more or less a botch....and so it has turned out....not that Natural England tried to protect said meadow as it had no rare species...

...and....it just seemed to me...and maybe im wrong but I dont think I am, that if you just keep on ripping up the important bits of land just because they dont have any rare species on them there and then...when the rare species try to spread and increase in number they wont be able to as there will be nowhere for them to go......
