I've seen fire and I've seen rain....

....I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end....
                       Fire and Rain, James Taylor

What can be said about the weather for the past few weeks....interesting would be one word....mid-June sun with northerly and easterly cool winds, end of June and in to July, Wimbledon!, firey hot and now back to rain and a bit of gloom forecast for the next week....
Lets just take a look at what was on offer this morning from the Met Office and Accuweather....

unreliable Met Office got it right today

inAccuweather...as they are now known...

I went anyway...and got a bit wet...

0500-0645 Overcast, slight breeze, warm, occasional showers giving way to rain

Warm it was, which is just as well as the rain started continually when I was at the furthest point from the car.  I did manage the WeBS count on the correct day again, today, though I think another count next weekend will be in order, hopefully, just to make sure the figures are somewhere near correct.

Highlight of the day was definitely the Barn Owl flying with prey in talons.  I guess not a highlight for the poor thing that had now bitten the dust!  Splendid to see as not seeing this species had become a nagging doubt about the survival of them in the area.  Huzzah! for the Barn Owl!!

Other species: Song Thrush, Chaffinch, Crow, Wren, Woodpigeon, Blackbird, Reed Bunting, Kestrel, Green Woodpecker, Robin, Yellowhammer, Swallow, Linnet, Swift, Reed Warbler, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Long Tail Tit, Dunnock, Blue Tit, Skylark, Magpie, Hobby.

On the pits: 30 Mallard, 89 Coot, 6 Moorhen, 20 Mute Swan, 6 Great Crested Grebe (including 2 stripey headed juveniles), 1 Tufted Duck, 2 Grey Heron, 8 Greylag Geese, 12 Black Headed Gull.

Warbler count: 6 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackcap, 7 Whitethroat.

Last, but not least.....heres the sight that greeted me at the gate today....so today was sponsored and brought to you by McDonalds and the scum individuals that dumped their rubbish.....well done humans, really, well done.....
