...and to Whetsted.....
...with the mass of Nightingales across south western Spain over the past couple of weeks and having passed the initial arrival dates at Whetsted during that time....it must be time to see whats arrived....
0800 - 1200 cool NE wind, hot in the sun out of the wind, mostly blue sky
Met DH on site and went in search of warblers....it was very quiet on the eastern side, where, to be honest, I had expected to find one or two Nightingales singing....but....nothing....
Eventually we found our first at Oak corner on the edge of North field....DH picked up our first Whitethroat as well and almost immediately I heard the familiar quavering call of a Lesser Whitethroat....the rest of the time was spent meandering to see what had turned up and thinking that perhaps April 20th is the 'to' date to find warblers newly arrived....
