Well I set my alarm a bit earlier....ok, it was only five minutes....quite why I thought that would be enough to beat the general mayhem of the dawn chorus, in a bid to get 'lone' Nightingale, I don't know....looks like its going to have to be getting out of bed at....eeeek!!….0400....
Meantime.....the numbers of warblers is increasing nicely....though this means.....in particular....the Nightingales have had a shift around....🙈….again!....
Nightingale 14
Lesser Whitethroat 8
Willow Warbler 3
Cettis Warbler 2
Garden Warbler 3
...then theres the 'I don't know how many'...
Chiffchaff...easily 30+
Blackcap 20+
Reed Warbler 15+
Whitethroat....I counted 20....but there are more...
Sedge Warbler...hmmm....well at least one....and probably a few....
The Nightingales are starting to spring up in various places....due to some I have found in the past few visits being quiet....or moved...there may be more than 14....
A Grey Wagtail was at West Pit again....and also 2 Egyptian Geese.....
Egyptian Geese
.........….there are the requisite Greylags and Canadas around as well usually calling noisily or finding a Mute Swan to annoy....
A Little Egret flew out and headed NW, nice to see it still on site and encouraging for possible breeding. 2 Mandarin Duck flew by.
No sign of the Lapwing again but im guessing they are out in the field somewhere....they have been around for some time so I would guess they should be at jut about the chick stage by now so out there, if not already, will soon be a few Lapwing chicks....fingers crossed....though occasional dogs run across the field and put them up....
All the usual birds....Bullfinch, Linnet, Goldfinch, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Crow, Jackdaw, Chaffinch, Wren, Robin, Skylark, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tail Tit, Herring Gull (over), Great Crested Grebe, Coot, Moorhen, Tufted Duck, Mallard, Cormorant, Buzzard, Collared Dove, Pied Wagtail, Woodpigeon, Feral Pigeon, Stock Dove, Grey Heron.....and probably others....
