A day of mostly sunshine yesterday and the sun was briefly out this morning....and thankfully the wind has finally winded off....
0845 - 1045 chilly, some sun, clouding over....
Song Thrushes were the loudest birds today, giving it a real good go.....others were joining in though....Goldcrest, Chaffinch, Dunnock....
Goldfinches, Bullfinches, Linnets were around....Great Spotted Woodpecker and Green Woodpeckers seemed to be popping up in many places around the site.....Jays were particularly active...a few Magpies were around....
At the paddocks a few Fieldfare and Redwings are hanging around feeding....two Pied Wagtails were there as well....
4 Mandarin Ducks were in their usual place....later found in an Oak tree they flew off to one of the hidden pits.….
A number of Canada and Greylag Geese have appeared scattered between Island Pit, Middle Pit and the fields south of the pits....a female Goldeneye re appeared on Middle Pit.....
A Reed Bunting sang briefly at Middle Pit.....
Lots of Black-headed Gulls....1 Herring Gull and 1 Common Gull....
A couple of Buzzards were around and a Kestrel found on the way back to the car....
4 Stock Doves were in one of the fields south of the pits...another flew by later.....
2 Water Rails called from unusual locations....obviously still moved out of their normal area by the high water levels......
