43%

0800 - 1015 cold, light frost, misty, dull, overcast

43% of the way to 100 before January is out....so a reasonable start to the year....and I really must keep on top of the sightings list this year....!!  Including birding abroad....which already holds promise and hope with a planned trip to Bulgaria in the summer....

Whetsted was quiet today....not many passerines around at all....though a possible new species for the site....Shelduck.....

I heard the Cettis Warbler a few days ago singing in the usual place....and today it gave a brief song in the same place plus further west...I have no idea whats going on with this bird....is it the same bird that has appeared erratically there....just about every time in the same place....a couple of springs one has sung and then gone quiet....does it stay for all this time and sing occasionally....does it ever get a mate....or does it leave the site and return for the winter in some kind of partial migration??…..

Todays 44%...
