The week that was...'nt....

0530 - 0830 cool but warming, sunny

Almost a week away from site due to foreseen circumstances....typical...DH has a great day last Tuesday with a new species for the site.....Shelduck....and a new Reed Warbler....

RJ went a couple of days ago and had some really good Buzzard action....!

Todays visit was just half the site....couldn't summon the where-with-all to get round the site today with a dodgy leg....

Still...the main subject as....yet again....Nightingales....now up to 5 on site....

Warblers....

3 Lesser Whitethroat, 5 Willow Warbler, loads of Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps, about 6 Reed Warblers singing, Cettis Warbler, 7 Whitethroat and the kid on the block.....1 Garden Warbler...

.....and people wonder why and how rubbish gets all over the place....

Footpath bridge heading toward Five Oak Green....apparently a new bin....

Other birds....

....the pits are just about empty....the usual Mute Swans, Great Crested Grebes, Coots and occasional Moorhen are still around with a few Tufted Ducks and Mallards....but all other interest has evaporated with migration....

Yellowhammers and Skylarks persist.....

A Mandarin Duck was flying around quietly....2 Cuckoos on site today with one flying over my head whilst I was crossing the Paddocks on the way in to site....

2 Lapwings were flying around the site and I found one in West field.....

Lapwing

Hopefully they will not make a bid to nest here as I'm sure the farmer will be along sooner or later with some bad news....
