This time last year we were standing on a beach just west of Eastbourne, Henry had been in for swim....shorts were the order of the day as it was blue skies and hot....what a contrast....dull....grey....hazy mist....visibility not great....and a cool NE to boot....and if that wasn't enough when I got up it was raining despite the supposed forecast of dry.....thankfully it stopped by 0830 so off I went to site to have a check round after missing yesterday....and as usual...it was cheery news....
9 Swallows in total with one group of 7 at West Pit....three came to rest in a tree...heres two of them...
Swallows
It was nice to see more than the singles that have been across the past couple of visits....though there were two single birds today early on....
A Whitethroat has appeared and singing in the expected place, though 6 days later than last year....so now there are five warblers on site...
Chiffchaff 32
Blackcap 14
Willow Warbler 4
Cettis Warbler 1
Whitethroat 1
On the water....
10 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 2 Mandarin Ducks, 61 Tufted Ducks.....
I also found a Green Sandpiper on one of the puddles on the eastern side....though at the moment they have so many places they can feed....so many very large puddles and wet areas...
3 Lesser Redpoll were on long straight and the Nuthatch was out east.....
The first Bluebells are out in flower in east wood..
