0715 - 0915 overcast, some sun, some light rain cool SW f1-2

Remember that rain we had two or three years ago, when Somerset was underwater, and all hell broke loose as the Environmental guys were told they never do enough....it was that year that Middle Pit and Island Pit became one with quite a lot of the bund underwater.  Yesterdays rain, very heavy during the afternoon and evening, has got us to a similar situation....not quite as much of the bund is under water....but the pits are now as one.....and its very wet and muddy underfoot all round the site which makes it quite a trudge at times....

This is one of the ditches that is now brimming at the west end of the site....

....if it comes over the top....the field gets it first...

Also at the west end, a Willow has fallen across the ditch, till today the water was flowing under it...now its starting to flow over it...

This is the footpath at the west end of Middle Pit.....its been flooded for some time now but the rising levels in the pits have pushed it further....the ducks and Coots now swim across instead of walking...

...as it says....no swimming...,.!!

But this hasn't stopped the warbler coming....I'm not really sure any bothered trying to get across the channel yesterday with the miserable weather...but some more have turned up on site...

Warbler Count:

Chiffchaff 18
Blackcap 5
Cettis Warbler 1

Not a full walk round as I didn't have the time today, but I'm hoping to get round the entire site tomorrow so possibly add to these totals by a few.....

So....what else was about....1 Little Egret, 21 Shoveler, 1 Pochard.....
