Up The (Junction) Creek

....out on the windy common....
Up The Junction, C Difford, G Tilbrook

...and blimey it was cold and wiiiiiindy.....though not on the common....but  the marsh...

1000 - 1145 Bright, occasionally overcast, cold NW f2-4...but mostly 4!

A trip to Oare Marshes to try to catch up with the Water Pipits that had been found just south of the reserve....no luck though....

Most birds had scattered somewhat as it was low tide...so food time...many could be seen across the sandbars out in the low water....at least visibility was not too bad across the waters to the Isle of Sheppey....

...view across to Sheppey....

Many of the usual culprits were around....Curlew, Meadow Pipit, Teal, Shoveler, Great Black-backed Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull, Black-tailed Godwit....

Curlew

....Tufted Duck, Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Stonechat, Crow, House Sparrow, Shelduck, Grey Plover...

....two Avocet......it was a bit gloomy at times....

Having wandered along the creek inland to try to find the pipits....and failed....I turned my attention to what was on the creek itself....a few ducks....Little Grebes....and there....plodding along...the Long-billed Dowitcher....possibly beginning to get an orangey glow as we head to Spring....

Long-billed Dowitcher

Over on Sheppey it was possible to make out at least 3 Marsh Harriers...and one Hen Harrier too....

Not too good on plants....but as the sun did come out and fetched up on this one quite nicely, I thought I would stick this in.....
