Catch up

0800 - 1130 overcast but brightening, one shower, cool

Time to catch up with the returning water birds...they are gradually filtering in...

Mallard, Mandarin, Coot, 36 Tufted, 5 Shoveler, Great crested Grebe, 2 Canada Geese, 5 Mute Swans, 7 Gadwall, 8 Cormorant, 1 Common Full, 1 Herring Gull, 225+ Black-headed Gull, Water Rail, Kingfisher, Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe...

Not many finches around...Gold, Chaff and Bull...a Meadow Pipit was at the quarry as was a Merlin. 4 Fieldfare flew over north..the Buzzards seem to have taken to sitting near the Feral Pigeon hide out on the concrete apron...so they in turn are sitting out out on the lines Woodpigeon style...they were joined today by 2 Mistle Thrushes...

There was a steady stream of Starlings in small flocks heading west...
