0940 - 1215 bright, sunny, warm, SW f2-3
As expected the Cettis was quiet....
Warbler count:
Chiffchaff 43
Blackcap 16
Willow Warbler 7
The water highlight at this point was a female Goldeneye....
It was certainly quieter all round the site compared to the early morning visit with the dawn chorus, which is surely picking up speed. However, the Chiffchaffs were brighter as were the Blackcaps....the Willow Warblers were singing earlier anyway....but the count was up for these due to doing a complete circuit of the site....
Bluebells
There were many Orange-tip Butterflies around....a little skittish and my pictures could not compare to Warrens over at Pittswood Birds, so check his photos out please, theres a link over there on the right under Blogs I Follow...
....there were plenty of...
Peacocks....
Tortoiseshell.....
I also found two Brimstone.....
Hornbeam
Heres a Dandelion....not eveyones favourite, but at this time of year there are plenty around and a major provider of food for many insects, not just the butterflies....
Over the west side of the site these Dandelions have gathered along the edges of the footpath...but only for maybe 150 feet of it....I think its pretty fab...
