Lazy Old Sun

....what have you done to the summertime,
hiding behind those misty old thunderclouds...
                    Ray Davies / The Kinks

I guess you cant blame the sun for the clouds in front of the eclipse yesterday....I suppose the bigger disappointment, if you could put it that way, was its glorious appearance at the end of the day....doh!

...and so to today....it was sunny when I got myself out of bed with little cloud....

Sunny turning to overcast, cool, N f1-2

It seemed a little quieter, from the point of bird song, today.  Im quite looking forward to the dawn choruses ahead as April and May progress.....

A slightly longer walk today as migrants have commenced arriving last time.  More of a re introduction for myself to parts not visited often over the winter....and whilst the leaves are still absent a need to find a couple of short cuts before they disappear.

So, lets see what was about today around the pits:

Dunnock, Chaffinch, Robin, Collared Dove, Crow, Woodpigeon, Green Woodpecker, Magpie, song Thrush, Starling, Great Tit, Blackbird, Skylark, Wren, Fieldfare, Yellowhammer, Red Bunting, Grey Wagtail, Jay, Bullfinch, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Jackdaw.

Warbler Count:

12 Chiffchaff

On the pits:

1 Little Egret, 2 Goldeneye, 1 Snipe, 14 Canada Geese, 15 Greylag Geese, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Mandarin Duck, 21 Shoveler, 2 Mute Swan, 6 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Gadwall, 10 Pochard, 18 Cormorant, 14 Mallard, 35 Coot, 102 Tufted Duck.
